Becoming a university teacher or assessor by Bob Brightside
Many people find that teaching is the way to go and I’ve noticed that the majority of these people only look to go into teaching because they feel that it is a good and safe profession to go into. However, that is not always the case with teachers, especially because one person can take on many roles in the teaching as well as further education arena, and these include the role of NVQ Assessor as well as Internal Verifiers and university teachers to name a few. Each one of these roles has different responsibilities attached to them and also involves working with young people.
Therefore, you will find that in order to get into teaching, there are various examinations and practical training and development that an individual will undertake. First and foremost, they would need to know a lot about the subject area that they wish to teach and for this they would most likely need to be educated at university level or have certain vocational qualifications within the subject area.
They would also need to then undertake a teaching degree that would take another couple of years to complete. This course would equip them with the necessary practical skills on how to get a subject matter across to the student and help them grasp the subject easily.
Teachers are also regularly assessed by internal and external bodies and also get feedback from the students to find out if they are finding the learning and development process easy and whether or not they are getting enough help and support from the teacher.
Teachers also go on regular training courses in order to develop the standards of teaching in their educational institution and provide their students with better resources to help them develop but also to help them engage with the subject.
For example, if an educational institution specialised in active sports and sports therapy, you will find that the institution is likely to have the state of the art equipment that will allow the students to develop and learn how to perform a particular activity and also learn how to teach that activity to others.
At the same time, if the institution specialised in computing and technology, you will find that the educational institution is likely to have state of the art computing technology to allow the monitoring of human activity. You will also find that there are various researchers in the university who will be funded to undertake research projects that will inevitably conclude for example how the use of technology impacts the brain.
