In order to answer this question it is important to know what NVQ stands for. NVQ is the acronym that stands for National Vocational Qualification. It’s a practical course that enables candidate to learn practical things related to the job of an NVQ assessor and to be able to learn about the basic tasks involved in developing and being able to demonstrate the necessary skills to do a particular job effectively and efficiently. Vocational qualifications are based on the National Standards for any country and aim to offer a work related learning qualification as opposed to a purely academic related qualification that is not likely to prepare you for the job but to provide you with the basics theory behind the job. Most vocational qualifications will allow you to learn, work and earn. This means that the course has a training element within it that allows you to go into the relevant industry and be very much hands on in the role that you are taking the vocational qualification for.
Vocational qualifications are ideal for both Adults and young entrepreneurs who wish to get a foot into the relevant industry faster.
So what are the main duties that an NVQ Assessor undertakes?
An NVQ Assessor mainly tries to support the NVQ candidate to ensure that they meet the standards required to achieve a particular qualification. Their main duties would be to:
- Prepare and deliver the relevant NVQ program
- Observe the candidates at their place of employment
- Provide constructive feedback and advice if the standards are not meant
- Ask the candidate questions to assess ho they would handle various situations
- Sign of the NVQ sheet when all boxes have been ticked or when the candidate has met all the requirements
- Maintain the candidates progress record and ensure they meet the requirements fo the NVQ governing bodies
